Mangalore , Dec. 31

TO promote transparency in administration, the Mangalore City Corporation is setting up a documentation centre. Citizens of Mangalore can access budget documents, maps, and voters' list, among others, here.

The documentation centre will be inaugurated on the premises of corporation office on January 5. Though the public are free to refer the documents at the centre, they will have to apply through the record section if they need copies of documents.

A press release by the Mangalore Mayor, Mr K. Diwakar, stated here on Wednesday that documents such as tenders of works taken up from July 1, 2003; work orders and estimates; maintenance contracts given for water supply, underground drainage, street lights and garbage clearance; contractors' list; and copies of citizens charter and Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act are also available for reference.
