Stagnation continues in rubber market

RUBBER prices continued to be stagnant on Wednesday, the last trading day of the year. The only gainer was latex which improved to Rs 40.50 on moderate demand. Major processors were unwilling to sell below the quoted price. Traders kept off as usual and they were in a jubilant mood on the new year eve.

RSS 4 closed steady at Rs 53.50 as on Tuesday. RSS 3 was also static at Rs 56.98 a kg at the Bangkok market.

The futures market showed a mixed trend on Wednesday. The January delivery was quoted at Rs 54.50 (54.55) , February delivery at Rs 56.40 ( 56.68), March delivery at Rs 58.74( 58.88), April delivery at Rs 61.19 (61.29), May delivery at Rs 62.60 (62.56) and June delivery at Rs 63.58 (63.52) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were better.

The spot market rates per kg on Wednesday were as follows: RSS 4 53.50 ( 53.50) RSS 5 51.00 (51.00) ungraded 49.00 (49.00) ISNR 20 51.75 (51.75), latex 60% 40.50 (39.50)
