Copper prices increased by Rs 9-10/kg

Hindustan Zinc has also raised the prices of zinc and lead.

Mumbai , Jan. 1

ALL the major producers of copper products i.e. Hindustan Copper Ltd, Sterlite and Birla Copper have announced raised their prices by Rs 9-10 per kg for the three different grades from Thursday.

Hindustan Zinc Ltd, the only producer of zinc and lead metal, has raised the prices by Rs 2 per kg on zinc grade and by Rs 1.80 per kg on lead metal.

Hindustan Copper Ltd, Sterlite Industries and Birla Copper have hiked prices by Rs 9 per kg to Rs 148.713 per kg for CC rod grade and Rs 143.045 per kg for copper cathode respectively for December, BME sources said.

The price revision has been made in line with sharp rise in LME prices during the last month. Traders were expecting such a rise for the current month, sources said.

Under the new system, the Bombay Metals Exchange (BME) revised prices upward by Rs 11.50 per kg to Rs 151.232 per kg on copper wire bar grade for January.
