TN assures support for B-school

THE Tamil Nadu Government has assured support for the establishment of a world-class business school at Chennai.
According to an official press release, at a meeting with the J.L. Kellogg Distinguished Professor of Management of the US-based Northwestern University, Prof Bala V. Balachandran, today, the Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, said that the Government would support the project. The professor explained the development plans for the proposed business school to be called, the Great Lakes Institute of Management at Chennai.
It is expected to start functioning from April, and will have on its academic advisory council authorities such as Prof C.K. Prahlad of Michigan, Prof Phil Kotler of Kellogg, Prof Seenu Srinivasan of Stanford, Prof Krishna Ramaswamy of Wharton and Prof Kasha Rangan of Harvard.
Such an institution will strengthen Chennai's position as a global manufacturing hub and business capital, the release said.
