Rubber weakens in thin trading

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Jan. 6

THE rubber market weakened on Tuesday. All the grades except latex lost amidst extremely thin trading owing to a State-wide private vehicle strike to protest against the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

Rubber futures fell sharply on Tuesday. The January delivery was quoted at Rs 53.40 (54), February delivery at Rs 54.98 (55.79), March delivery at Rs 56.88 (57.86), April delivery at Rs 59.88 (60.56), May delivery at Rs 61.75 (62.26) and June delivery at Rs 62.85 (63.26) per kg for RSS 4. The market opened weak and declined further on panic selling from traders.
