Mumbai , Jan. 6

EPSON, the printer and digital imaging solutions manufacturer, has witnessed a spurt in growth of its dot matrix printer market share in the last quarter.

According to IDC market share figures for the July-September quarter, Epson's market share grew at 35.2 per cent.

According to the company, it closed 2002-03 with a market share of 27.7 per cent and was in the third spot after WeP and TVS-E.

In the second quarter of the current financial year, Epson's volumes grew 94 per cent.

Mr Samba Moorthy, Deputy General Manager (Business Products), said: "Our growth in the first six months of this year has been due to our enhanced focus on the Government and corporate sector and penetration into the up country markets.

"This is only the beginning and we expect our rapid growth to continue."

Last year, Epson's market share in the dot matrix printer segment rose from 25.66 per cent to 27.73 per cent.

While the others struggled to grow their volumes, Epson was the only company in this category to register a double-digit volume growth figure of 13.11 per cent.
