Canara Bank gesture

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Social Banking Cell of Canara Bank donated 50 `Duroflex' mattresses to inmates of the Cheshire Home, Thiruvananthapuram, as New Year gift.

A spokesman of the Management Information, Planning and Development Section, Canara Bank, said here that Mr R. V. Shastri, Chairman and Managing Director, formally handed over the mattresses at a function held here. Later, in his speech, Mr Shastri appreciated the humanitarian work carried out by Cheshire Home, and promised continued support to the latter in its future endeavours.

Among those who were present were Mr R.R. Varma, Chairman, Cheshire Home, Ms Vimala Menon, Secretary, and Mr C.M. Abraham, Treasurer.

Mr G. Umesh Shenoy, General Manager, Canara Bank, spoke on the occasion.
