Visakhapatnam , Jan. 6

THE Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has stopped work on widening (four-laning) the Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam beach road, following a stay order issued by the division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

In response to a public interest writ petition, filed by the Fishermen Youth Welfare Association here and a voluntary organisation, Vikashi, alleging that roadwork was being taken up in violation of the CRZ stipulations and without the mandatory clearances, the division bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court issued the stay orders on Monday in Hyderabad.
