Milk price in Dakshina Kannada to go up

Our Bureau

MANGALORE: People of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts may have to pay more for "Nandini" milk supplied by the Dakshina Kannada Milk Producers' Union. According to the President of the union, Mr K. Diwakar Shetty, increase in the price of milk has become inevitable owing to increase in power tariff and maintenance costs.

He told presspersons at Manipal on Wednesday that the increase in the price of "Nandini" milk would be announced soon, and added that the union did not increase the price in the past four years.

A ghee-manufacturing unit would be set up at Manipal dairy and the capacity of the Mangalore dairy would be increased, he said.

The Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Mr D. Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the renovated Manipal dairy complex on January 9, he added.
