New Delhi , Jan. 7

DAKSH eServices, a business process outsourcing (BPO) company, today said that it is setting up a facility in Manila employing 1,000 persons as part of its plans to emerge as a global player.

The Gurgaon-based Daksh will be investing $5 million in the new facility, from where it will offer customer service, technical support and back office transaction processing services, a company statement said.

"The Philippines and India complement each other ideally and together we can become the dominant BPO providers to the world," said Mr Sanjeev Aggarwal, CEO of Daksh.

No work will be shifted from India to the Manila centre, a company spokesperson said.

Although salaries in the Philippines would be higher than what Daksh pays in India, lower infrastructure cost in that country will offset the difference.

The Philippines has 35 million skilled workers.

The country is bellieved to produces 3.80 lakh graduates annually.

Attrition rates are lower there, Daksh said in a statement.

Daksh, which claims to be the first independent Indian BPO company to start operations in the Philippines, will add the 1,000 staff over the next one year in Manila.

This will increase the total number of employees of Daksh to 10,000 by 2005.
