THE logistics arm of the Chennai-based MGM Group, Anand Transport, will construct an iron ore handling facility at the Ennore port.

A letter of intent has been issued to Anand Transport by MMTC Ltd to construct and operate the facility under build, own and operate model, according to a press release from the MGM group.

The project includes construction of a 225-metre jetty, a berth and a conveyor of 700 metres. A barge loader with design capacity of 1,110 tonnes an hour is also to be built. Iron ore unloaded from wagon would be fed into ground hopper and carried through conveyors and barge loaders into barges of 2,000 to 2,500 dead weight tonnes.
