AI plans to recruit 400 cabin crew

New Delhi , Jan. 7

AIR India (AI) plans to recruit 400 personnel to take up jobs of air-hostesses and flight pursers. The airline has sought applications from unmarried men and women below 24 years of age who are fluent in English and one or more Indian languages.

Besides, the airline has indicated that applicants having knowledge of either French, German and Japanese will be given preference. Applicants who clear the personal presentation will be called for a written test, which will be an objective test with a multiple choice of answers. Further, those applicants who qualify in the written test will have to appear for a personal interview. The airline has chosen Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai as the selection centres.

The move comes close on the heels of the AI board clearing a Rs 10,000-crore fleet acquisition proposal. In November last year, the board cleared a proposal to acquire 18 Boeing-737-800 and 10 Airbus A-340 aircraft.

Interestingly, the AI subsidiary, Air India Charters Ltd, also undertook an exercise to recruit close to 200 people on contractual basis for work at Delhi and Kochi airports.
