Credit Market Gold loan scheme Our Bureau
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The gold loan scheme introduced by co-operative agricultural and rural development banks in the State has met with fairly successful working results. Announcing this, a spokesman of the apex Kerala State Cooperative Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (KSCARDB) said here that the scheme was initially implemented in select agricultural and rural development banks in the State. Farmers and small entrepreneurs have been lapping up the product, which promises loans at 9 per cent. This compares favourably with the loan schemes on offer from other financing agencies, including banks. The apex bank has announced that the gold loan scheme is being extended to the agricultural and rural development banks in Vythiri, Devicolam, Thodupuzha, Muvattupuzha, Kilimanoor, Pathanamthitta, Karthikapalli and Thiruvananthapuram.
