Dakshina Kannada Telecom to expand mobile service

DAKSHINA Kannada Telecom District, comprising Dakshina Kannada and Udupi revenue districts, will expand mobile telephone service network to meet the needs of customers.

Addressing presspersons at "Meet the Media" programme organised by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) here on Thursday, the Principal General Manager of D.K. Telecom, Mr K.J. Chacko, said that 32 new cell sites have been identified to improve coverage of mobile network.

Of this, 12 sites will be in the Mangalore city limits. The proposed new sites in Mangalore city limits are: Bandar Port, Kudroli, Kodialbail, Kadri Kambala, Sanjay Apartment, Gandhi Nagar, Pumpwell, Casa Granda, Kotekani Road, Ashok Nagar, Ullal, and Kuloor.

Apart from Mangalore, cell sites will also be set up in Hebri, Shankaranarayana, Bellare, Kollur, Puttur, Mulky, Subrahmanya, Kinnikambala, Kadaba, Nitte, Thokkottu, Saligrama, Vamanjoor, Kalyanpura, Malpe, Herga, Katipalla, Talapady, Kateel, and Sampaje.

He stated that the offer of full recharge value (less service tax) has been extended up to March 31 for all pre-paid customers of BSNL mobile service network.

The new VPN (virtual private network) tariff for mobile service has been designed to meet the needs of large corporate houses with more than 2,000 connections.
