Chennai , Jan. 8

THE Chennai-based Abacus Netcomm, one of the business partners for IBM in Tamil Nadu, has launched Abacus Netcomm ThinkWorld, an exclusive showroom to showcase IBM personal computer products.

The idea of such a showroom is to get closer to customers and provide them with the flexibility to experience, feel and evaluate IBM technology, Mr Neeraj Sharma, Country Manager - Brand Marketing and Sales Operation, Personal Computing Division, IBM India, told newspersons here on Thursday. Indian consumers like to `touch and feel' before buying a product, which prompted IBM India to launch ThinkWorld, he said.

Starting with a pilot project in Chandigarh, the IBM India launched ThinkWorld in Delhi and Mumbai, in association with various business partners. It plans to have about 20 ThinkWorld showrooms in all the major metros, and B and C cities by the year-end.

As part of the business partner programme, IBM would train Abacus sales team through suite of education modules.
