MALAYSIA is keen to sign a `Labour Exchange Agreement' with India, which in a way would ensure that the recent `unwelcome' incidents such as the detainment of Indian IT professionals in Malaysia are avoided.
Stating this, Mr Samy Vellu, Malaysia's Minister of Works, said the agreement would also ensure free passage of professionals from India to Malaysia and vice-versa. He was speaking at a networking Lunch session of the ongoing CII-Partnership Summit.
With Malaysia entering the Asean Free Trade Zone from January, Indian companies investing in Malaysia would have unrestricted access to the region, Mr Vellu said.
The Malaysian Minister said the proposal to have an air link between Kolkata and Kuala Lumpur was on priority for his Government.
In efforts to increase the presence of Malaysian companies in Andhra Pradesh, the Malaysian Government is likely to open a branch office of the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority in Hyderabad, soon, he added.
