VISAKHAPATNAM: Kite festival is being organised here on the Ramakrishna beach on January 11 by the State Tourism Department.

Mr Sunil Sharma, District Collector, said at a press meet here on Thursday that every year the festival was being held in Hyderabad to promote tourism, but this year it had been shifted to Visakhapatnam, as it was the future tourist destination.

He said a team from Japan had been specially invited to participate in the event and they would bring their own special kites. Kites of various hues and sizes would be sold on the Ramakrishna beach and all could participate in the event. He urged the public to participate in large numbers and make it a memorable event.
