IN the final signal towards early General Elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders on Thursday authorised the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to take a decision on the timing of Lok Sabha polls.

"We have full faith in the judgement of Mr Vajpayee in deciding on the timing of the Lok Sabha elections," NDA convenor, Mr George Fernandes told reporters after a meeting of the coalition partners here.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader, Ms Mamata Banerjee has been given charge of the Coal and Mines Ministry.
