Mumbai , Jan. 9

THE reduction of Customs duty on computer hardware from 25 per cent to 20 per cent, and the reduction of excise duty from 16 per cent to 8 per cent, will have a positive impact on the software, ITES sectors, according to CRISInfac, Crisil's information and research arm.

These duty cuts will reduce capital costs for these sectors, with computer hardware accounting for 40 per cent of capital costs for software companies and 50 per cent of capital costs for ITES companies.
