Hyderabad , Jan. 10

THE Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Dr Sanjay Paswan, on Saturday said a National Competency Testing Agency will be set up by the Ministry soon.

Dr Paswan said the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), which he visited today should have a vibrant relationship with leaders and administrators. Rural development also should be made more relevant to the Indian economy, he added.

He wanted the NIRD to conduct a study on agrarian relations and rural violence in different areas of the country.

Dr Paswan also offered to head a forum for rural development in the Parliament to give better expression to rural issues. He said, "India was being forced to become a country of consumers, but we must undo this and become a country of entrepreneurs. Our rural wisdom must prevail and we should be able to market our technologies and ideas."
