Horticulture seminars in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Agricultural Products Export Development Authority (Apeda) and National Institute of Nutrition and National Horticultural Board will be co-sponsoring two major seminars to coincide with the 34th flower and horticultural products exposition to be held here. The flower show is being hosted by the State Agriculture Department and organising committee, a spokesman said here.

The topics for the seminars to be held on January 31 will be "Potential of homestead farming in State" and "Role of fruits and horticultural produce in healthcare". The first seminar will be inaugurated at 9 a.m. by the Agriculture Minister, Ms K.R. Gowri Amma, and the second, at 1.30 p.m., by the State Assembly Speaker, Mr Vakkom Purushothaman. Leading experts from abroad will present their papers in both the seminars. Around 125 experts from various parts of the country also are expected to take part.
