Cattle products

This is with reference to "Transparency in selling cattle products" (Business Line, January 12). The article rightly points out that there is need for greater transparency in selling cattle products.

Also, it is disturbing to know that a cow gets infected by the mad cow disease when it eats tissue from the spine or brain of an infected animal. One wonders why cows are given feed that is very different from their natural diet.

The consumers should be given full information about the products they buy. Also, one hopes that efforts are made by various agencies and animal activists to stop the cows being fed with tissue and other unnatural products.
