Trends More cos likely to switch to Linux: Study Our Bureau
Coimbatore , Jan. 12 FORRESTER, a technology research company, has predicted that by the end of 2004 close to 10 per cent of the global 2000 companies will have migrated from Windows servers to Linux for their basic network operating system (NOS) infrastructure. While predicting continued growth for Linux and offshore outsourcing, the company's survey points to early recovery signs in the telecom sector and increased focus on technology to measure corporate performance. The `2004 Technology Adoption Plans' survey indicates a greater thrust in building wireless networks, voice-over IP technologies and building portals with single sign-on. The Indian IT services market is expected to record a 30 per cent growth in 2004. A notable component of this trend, according to researchers, could be in offshore customer service and technical support. CRM is expected to stay flat, in spite of attracting, retaining and serving customers in priority area of service, particularly in the current scenario. With CRM licensed revenues witnessing a 20 per cent dip in 2003, researchers foresee only a modest growth of, say, 5-10 per cent through 2005.
