Hardware Shourie looks to sops for hardware sector Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Jan. 12 LAUDING the sops announced by the Union Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, recently in the areas of telecommunications and information technology, the Union Minister of Disinvestment and Communications & Information Technology, Mr Arun Shourie, favoured similar incentives in the field of hardware. Talking to reporters after inaugurating the GITEX Hyderabad 2004 here on Monday, Mr Shourie said the sops announced by the Finance Minister would further boost the economy. He hoped the Finance Minister would announce further incentives in the field of hardware. According to him, the Government was committed to evolve the zero duty regime for all the electronics items by next year. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, said the State Government was planning to introduce sales tax exemptions for promotions and sales at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre here from next year onwards.
