`Praise-worthy': Foodgrains body

Our Correspondent

MADURAI: The Tamilnadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has described the sops on both the direct and indirect taxes announced by the Finance Minister as praise-worthy.

Mr V. Dhanasekaran, Secretary of the association, in a statement here said that the measures were bound to pave the way for industrial growth in the country. While the exemption given to senior citizens and the salaried class are heartening, he also pleaded for income exemption to trade and industry also.

The provisions towards agriculture, infrastructure and small and medium enterprises were bold initiatives for the building of a strong nation, he said.
