Hyderabad , Jan. 13

MR Arun Shourie, Union Minister for IT and Communications and Disinvestment, said India should go for a "low key" campaign to face the "backlash by the US and the UK" against outsourcing from Indian IT services companies.

Blaming the media for blowing up the issue, the Minister said the whole issue was a minor one and needed a subtle campaign. "Don't make it a big issue," he said.

"Contact our people over there to support the cause. Talk to the trade unions. Also, China has got good connections. We can use those connections," the Minister told newspersons on the sidelines of the Asia IT Ministers Summit here.

Mr Shourie said the US and the UK companies benefited from the quality human resources in the IT sector. The US economy was benefited by a whopping $50 billion by using Indian outsourcing.

Mr Shourie had asked the Asian IT Ministers to unite and make concerted efforts to face the backlash in the US and the UK against outsourcing.
