Digital Global Q3 net up 32 per cent

DIGITAL GlobalSoft, the software services subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard (HP), has posted a 32 per cent increase in net profit, while its revenues grew by 46 per cent during the third quarter ended December 31, 2003, from a year ago.

The company's net profit during the third quarter stood at Rs 35.6 crore on revenues of Rs 165.3 crore as against a net of Rs 27 crore on revenue of Rs 113.27 crore in the corresponding period last year.

On a sequential basis, topline growth was up 10 per cent and net profit higher by 11 per cent during the quarter.

The company's services business grew sequentially by 8 per cent at Rs 138.6 crore, while revenues from its contact centre business increased by 40 per cent to touch Rs 22.3 crore.

Revenues from HP grew by 9 per cent on sequential basis to Rs 121.9 crore, while earnings from independent business was higher by 15 per cent to Rs 32.4 crore.

Digital added 449 people during the quarter taking the overall headcount to 4,889. The company said that the Digital Contact Centre (DCC) business continued to show growth and performance was in line with the company's plans. Commenting on the results in a joint statement, Mr Peter Mercury, Chairman, Digital GlobalSoft, and Mr Som Mittal, President and CEO, Digital GlobalSoft, said: "We are pleased to report a good performance for the quarter under review. The information technology services sector continues to provide new opportunities and poses fresh challenges on an ongoing basis. It is our endeavour to capitalise on these opportunities and given our operating strength and parentage, we are confident of facing challenges to achieve further progress in the future."
