A self-service counter set up by the Consumerfed for IMFL sales in Kochi. This is the first counter in Kerala set up by Consumerfed for liquor sales to sell selected brands of liquor above the range of Rs 200. Recent figures show that alcohol consumption in the State has increased considerably. Kerala consumed liquor worth Rs 14 crore on the New Year Day, an increase of 40 per cent compared to the sale of IMFL on December 31, 2002. Kerala State Beverages Corporation alone sold liquor worth Rs 8.05 core on December 31, 2003, a 38 per cent increase over the same day a year ago.
