Education Euro Tech gets Govt nod for deck cadet course Our Bureau
Kochi , Jan. 19 THE Kochi-based Euro Tech Maritime Academy has received approval from the Director General Shipping for conducting Nautical Deck Cadet course. Euro Tech is the first institute in Kerala to get such an approval. Students who have passed Plus 2 with minimum 60 per cent marks, BSc with minimum 55 per cent marks, BE/B Tech are eligible for admission. On successful completion of the course, the students will be issued Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) by the Union Government. Students who complete these courses can join in Indian/Foreign ships as deck cadets and in due course they can reach up to the ranks of Captain of ship, Mr Jenson Paul Managing Director said. Euro Tech, which commenced its courses in the year 1999, is presently conducting 23 courses including Pre-Sea Training, Competency Programmes and Advanced & Basic Modular courses for seafarers as well as prospective seafarers. The Institute is one among the few institutes in India, which has complied with D.G. Shipping order 1 of 2003, having its own campus and facilities to impart quality training, he said. The Institute, which recently got ISO 9001-2000, is also planning to commence various courses including three years BSc Nautical Science, Marine Engineering course during the current year, he added.
