Exide PAT rises to Rs 17 cr in Q3

EXIDE Industries Ltd has posted a 35.48 per cent increase in profit after tax to Rs 16.99 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2003, from Rs 12.54 crore in the same period of the previous year.

The profit before tax was higher by 29.45 per cent at Rs 26.59 crore (Rs 20.54 crore). Operating profit was up 16.21 per cent at Rs 44.60 crore (Rs 38.38 crore), according to company sources at the end of the board meeting.

Gross sales for the quarter under review at Rs 291.54 crore (Rs 269.73 crore) showed 8.08 per cent growth and net sales at Rs 233.30 crore (Rs 217.05 crore) showed 7.48 per cent growth.
