THE International Chamber of Commerce wants India to take a leadership role in getting the developing countries to negotiate for lowering the trade barriers that exists between them.

"Trade barriers between developing countries are extremely high. There is a need among developing countries to negotiate to overcome this situation. India can take a leadership role to help bring down the barriers," the Secretary General of International Chamber of Commerce, Ms Maria Livanos Cattaui, said here at a Round Table organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

The issue at hand was, `Can we get the multilateral rules-based system back on track?'
