Potter on POGO

POGO, the new television channel for kids, will premiere the blockbuster movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, for the first time on Indian television.

The movie will be telecast exclusively on POGO to coincide with the 2004 summer holidays. The film was acquired by POGO from Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

According to a press release, POGO was launched on January 1 this year and is distributed by Zee Turner Pvt. Ltd. The channel is broadcast via the PAS-10 satellite, and offers programming from production companies such as Ragdoll Ltd, BBC and HIT Entertainment PLC, among others.

Turner Broadcasting System Inc, a Time Warner company, is a major producer of news and entertainment products around the world and a provider of programming for the basic cable industry.

Mr Anshuman Misra, Managing Director, Turner International India Pvt. Ltd, said airing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is an indication of the kind of irresistible programming line up in store on POGO.

The film is based on the first of J.K. Rowling's popular children's novels about Harry Potter, the boy wizard who is invited to attend Hogwarts School of witchcraft and wizardry.
