Events Matrimonial expo in Madurai Our Correspondent
MADURAI: Madurai is experiencing for the first time, a new exhibition namely, `matrimonial' exhibition. The exhibition that started on January 16 will be on till January 25 at the Fortune Pandyan Hotel. According to Mr Senthilnathan, Director of Alliance India Matrimonial (AIM), which has organised the exhibition, the effort has been due to a survey that revealed that Maduraites spend more on marriages and yet did not have a wide range of options with reference to wedding collections. While all items of jewellery, cosmetics utensils, exotic silk sarees and other household articles are on display, the stalls selling slimming kits and exercising equipments have found very encouraging response, emphasising the spreading consciousness among the prospective brides to appear slim at the time of wedding. As matchmaking is also facilitated, over 1,500 prospective brides and grooms have registered with AIM, free of cost at the exhibition. An anti-dowry stall has also been put up to campaign against dowry.
