Pricol set to launch 2-wheeler security systems for OE sector

S. Muralidhar

New Delhi , Jan. 21

AUTOMOBILE components manufacturer and electronic instrument clusters maker, Pricol, is set to launch two-wheeler security systems for the original equipment (OE) sector.

Company sources said that it had already tied up with Bajaj Auto for OE supplies and Bajaj vehicles would feature this new theft security system.

Like the company's existing four-wheeler security system, the new two-wheeler security system is also expected to be marketed under the company's `Xenos' brand of security systems.

The new system is designed to protect both motorcycles and scooters from theft and misuse. It also incorporates a vibration sensor for detecting theft of parts and attempts at starting the vehicle with a fake key.

Future systems with more advanced features could also include a remote electronic starting mechanism.

Pricol is also in talks with other two-wheeler manufacturers such as Hero Honda for commencing OE supplies.

The two-wheeler security system can be fitted into the storage compartment below the seat and the wiring is also, as a result, concealed and tamperproof.

Company sources said that the new system would be launched in the market by February.

The entry into the after-market will come after the product and the brand makes a mark in the OE market. Pricol officials said that retrofitting the security system into the existing two-wheelers would also be possible in most manufacturer-owned workshops. The security kits are expected to cost about Rs 1,200 each.

The company is also planning to expand its range of four-wheeler security systems.
