Cultural village inauguration near Golconda Fort

Hyderabad , Jan. 21

THE much-awaited inaugural of `Taramati Baradari Cultural Village near the historic Golconda Fort will be held on February 4, marking a new era in the tourism industry in the State.

The Rs 6-crore project, named after the musician Taramati (1626-1672) in the court of Qutb Shah, would see the revival of the medieval seat of culture and music. "Developing a historic monument into a tourist spot, while safeguarding the original features of the site is a unique concept," a senior official of the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) said.

"This centre will be home for cultural and music activities. And there will be no room for `pop' and rock concerts," he said.

The project, which comprises 34 `well-appointed' rooms, would later be developed into a venue for holding conferences.

Located at Ibrahimbagh on the Osman Sagar road, the seven-acre site houses a 50-seater bar `Saquee', an open-air auditorium that can seat 1,600 people and an air-cooled theatre.

The cultural village would hold annual events such as Golconda music and dance festival, Taramati music festival, Premavathi dance festival, music concerts and folk dance fetes.
