Tata Tele (Maha) net loss widens

TATA Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd has reported a 72 per cent increase in revenues for the quarter ended December 31, 2003; revenues increased to Rs 163.25 crore from Rs 94.65 crore reported during the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Capital expenditure on CDMA services as well as promotional expenses on the launch led to increased expenditure, on account of which net loss for the quarter widened, year-on-year, mounting to Rs 69.4 crore (Rs 21.72 crore).

Total expenditure amounted to Rs 145 crore (Rs 78.36 crore); of this network costs amounted to Rs 88.42 crore (Rs 49.65 crore), while marketing expenses rose to Rs 16.43 crore (Rs 1.61 crore). Operating profit was higher, at Rs. 18.25 crore (Rs. 16.29 crore).

Earnings before interest depreciation and tax stood lower, at Rs 19.44 crore (Rs 21.09 crore).
