Salora sees potential for component exports

Neha Kaushik

New Delhi , Jan. 22

WITH electronics getting more high tech in the developed world, Salora International Ltd is seeing potential for exports.

"With television makers abroad phasing out production of components for conventional televisions due to declining demand in those markets, we are stepping up capacities of these components to cater to the requirements of companies still manufacturing these products," says Mr Gopal Jiwarajka, Managing Director, Salora International Ltd.

The company is already exporting components to Korea and South Africa, and is now in talks to commence exports to a large television manufacturer based out of Turkey.

Components being exported include fly back transformers (FBTs), reflection yokes and loud speakers. "We will be hiking the production capacities of these components by 70-100 per cent by the end of this fiscal", says Mr Jiwarajka.

Meanwhile, in the domestic market, Salora is looking to consolidate its product portfolio and will be focusing primarily on the Northern region. "In this market, our brand still has an upmarket brand image when compared to the regional brands. With our price positioning, we are present in the price range above the regional brands, but are priced lower than MNC brands," says Mr Jiwarajka.

Salora International is looking to end this fiscal with a turnover of Rs 450 crore up from Rs 348 crore last year.
