New Delhi , Jan. 23

CLOSE to 4.5 million existing pre-paid customers and new subscribers of Airtel, the cellular services of Bharti group can now recharge their cards on a lower denomination of Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 200 just by sending an SMS. Until now the lowest level of available recharge coupons was Rs 300.

Announcing the new initiatives for subscribers, Mr Manoj Kohli, President, Mobility, Bharti, noted that while Rs 50 recharge coupon would offer the customer Rs 25 worth or 10 minutes of airtime, Rs 100 coupon would provide Rs 50 or 20 minutes of talk time and Rs 200 coupon would offer Rs 115 or 50 minutes of talk time. The validity of the three coupons would be 3 days, 7 days and 14 days, respectively.

Apart from this, subscribers also have the advantage of topping up their pre-paid cards with any denomination suiting their budget be it Rs 75, Rs 120 Rs 160 etc.

In real terms this means a pre-paid customer can buy talktime in the same manner as he buys petrol for his car or two-wheeler, ie buy only as much as he has money to pay for.

He noted that Airtel customers can also recharge while roaming in any of its 15 networks across the country. They can recharge their cards with a denomination of their choice just by sending an SMS or through ``Easy Charge Outlet'' of the company.

The company also announced the launch of a `National Recharge Coupon' of Rs 300, Rs 500 and Rs 810. Mr Kohli stated that the facility was targeted at the youth and infrequent callers.

Airtel has also announced a new bundling scheme, offering Motorola C 201 mobile handsets at a package cost of Rs 3,299 with Rs 1,800 worth of airtime.

Samsung R 220 is packaged at Rs 3,999 with an offer of Rs 2,000 airtime.
