Chennai , Jan. 23

TVS Motor's profit after tax for the third quarter of the financial year 2003-04 was Rs 27.50 crore, lower by 15.33 per cent in relation to the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The operating income for the third quarter was Rs 672.09 crore (Rs 707 crore).

A sharp fall in the company's two stroke motorcycles sales along with an increase in marketing expenses resulted in a fall in profit said Mr Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director.

TVS Motor recorded a profit after tax of Rs 96.56 crore (Rs 90.11 crore) on operating income of Rs 2,099 crore (Rs 2,042 crore) for the first nine months of the current financial year.
