Tea Tea prices steady to firm Our Bureau
Kochi , Jan. 25 ORTHODOX tea prices were steady to firm while CTC dust was dearer at Kochi sales. There was a good general demand for dust. A total quantity of 8,81,000 kg were on sale. The prices quoted were Best CTC Rs 50-69, medium CTC Rs 40-48, Poorer type Rs 35-38, Highgrown BOPD Rs 60-119, Secondaries Rs 28-30. In leaf sales 1,70,000 kg were offer and there was a fair general demand. Orthodox high grown and medium leaf grades were tending easier while CTCs were lower by Rs 1 to Rs 1.50. Exporters to CIS continued to operate in less strength and were very selective. However, secondaries and low priced orthodox witnessed good demand for other exporters at last levels. The prices quoted were Best Nilgiri broken Rs 38-57; fannings Rs 41-72, medium orthodox broken Rs 30-44, fannings Rs 30-32; Best CTC leaf Rs 47-53, fannings Rs 43-48 and medium CTC leaf broken Rs 37-43, fannings Rs 37-40 per kg. In the dust sales, Kodanad CL-BOPD fetched the highest price of Rs 119 per kg followed by Havukal BOPD Rs 100. In the leaf section Glendale BOPS-CL topped with Rs 188 followed by Glendale Op-CL Rs 97 per kg.
