New resort coming up on Vizag beach

Visakhapatnam , Jan. 25

A NEW tourist resort is to be constructed by the City of Destiny Clubs and Resorts at Jodugullapalem on the beach.

Mr B.N. Murthy, Chairman and Managing Director of the club, said the State Government had allotted four acres of land on the beach at Jodugullapalem village in the vicinity of Visakhapatnam on lease for 15 years and authorised the club to construct the resort on a build, operate and transfer basis.

He said that in the first phase cottages, restaurants, meditation centre, swimming pool, gymnasium and other facilities would be built up.

Water sports would be added in the second. The work on the first phase would begin next month and it would be completed by June.

Mr Murthy said the club was offering most attractive packages. Student membership would cost Rs 9,000, permanent membership (Rs 10,000), life membership of the number one type (Rs 25,000) and life membership of the number two type (Rs 50,000). He said the club had not taken any institutional finance for the project.

He said the development of tourism and resorts along the beach would not have any impact on the livelihood of fishermen or their lifestyle, as apprehended by some.

"In fact, promotion of tourism would contribute to the prosperity of the area and fishermen too would be benefited,'' he said.

To make the local people aware of the project, he said, the club was organising "Destiny Sambaralu'' (destiny festivities) on the occasion of the Republic Day at Viswapriya Hall, beach road, and three Telugu actresses — Raasi, Jyothi and Anita Patel - and the TV anchor, Udaya Bhanu, would participate in the event.
