Outsourcing Spectramind to focus on non-voice business Vishwanath Kulkarni
Bangalore , Jan. 25 IN a bid to increase its seat utilisation and improve margins, Wipro Spectramind, the business process outsourcing (BPO) arm of Wipro Ltd is looking at growing its non-voice process business over the next several quarters. The non-voice business, which handles complex value-added processes currently accounts for 14 per cent of Wipro Spectramind's earnings as compared to less than five per cent a year ago, said Mr Raman Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, Wipro Spectramind. Mr Roy told Business Line that the company was consciously trying to grow the earnings from non-voice process business as it helps in improving the margins, revenues and increase utilisation. "We are seeing good growth in both voice and non-voice business. However, on comparative basis the voice business is growing at a faster clip," Mr Roy said, adding that the company expected its non-voice process business to account for between 20-25 per cent of its revenues over the next six to eight quarters. Wipro Spectramind, which accounted for 11 per cent of the parent's earnings in the December quarter, expects to increase its seat utilisation over the coming quarters.
