General Insurance officers' plea

KOCHI: A special meeting of the State unit of the General Insurance Officers All India Association (Gioaia) has urged the Centre not to disinvest the shares of public sector insurance companies.

The association has appealed to the Union Government to give up its move to raise the foreign direct investment in the public sector insurance companies to 49 per cent from 26 per cent, Mr P.P. Mohanan, State General Secretary, Gioaia, said in a press release here.

In another resolution, he said, the association had demanded immediate finalisation of the wages revision of its employees. Those spoke at the meeting presided over by the Association President, Mr M.P. Jayaram, included Dr E. Rajagopalan, National Vice-President, Mr M. Mahalingam, Working President, Tamil Nadu, Mr P.P. Mohanan, Mr K. Rajeev Nambiar and Mr Sebastian Chacko.
