AP Transco to cut T&D losses

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh and the Distribution Companies have finalised a programme to strengthen transmission and distribution (T&D) network in the State by commissioning 580 additional power substations of various capacity at an estimated cost of Rs 1,760 crore during 2004-05.

The Chairperson and Managing Director of APTransco, Ms Rachel Chatterjee, stated that due to concerted efforts of the power utilities, the T&D losses in the State have come down from 38 per cent in 1999 to 24.63 per cent by December 2003. This had considerably improved APTransco's bottom-line and efforts were on to further reduce T&D losses.
