ANDHRA Bank has entered into an agreement with UTI Bank for sharing their automated teller machines (ATMs) spread across the country. The arrangement would be operational from Monday.

In a press release, Andhra Bank said the agreement enables the customers of both banks to use the combined network of ATMs, both existing and proposed.

At present, Andhra Bank has a presence in 21 States and two Union Territories, with 1,124 branches, 126 extension counters, 44 satellite offices and 256 ATMs catering to the needs of around 105 lakh customers.

The bank's ATM network is compatible to handle VISA/Master Credit Cards also. As against this, UTI Bank has a network of 229 branches and extension counters and over 1,130 ATMs across 105 cities and towns.

On the development, the Andhra Bank Executive Director, Mr Balakrishnan, said, "This tie-up has paved the way for both the banks to increase the number of delivery channels substantially and to provide value-added services to customers across the country."

The UTI Bank Chairman and Managing Director, Dr P.J. Nayak, said their bank was keen to ensure wider utilisation of the network having invested in building a sizeable ATM network in the country. "This arrangement is a major step in that direction," he said.
