TN move to set up food park hailed

MADURAI: While welcoming the announcement of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, about the food park to be set up at Nilakottai at a cost of Rs 13 crore, the Madurai District Tiny And Small Scale Industries Association (Maditssia) has appealed for inclusion of its representatives into the steering committee or the advisory committee of park to facilitate the industries to express their needs.

In a statement here, Mr K. Ramachandran has said that the Ministry of Food Processing Industry and Nabard have identified Madurai, Dindigul and Theni districts as potential areas for developing Food Processing Industries and the McKinsey report has forecasted the scope for food processing industry at Rs 2,25,000 crore by 2005.

The project has been announced at the right time, he said.
