CCMB workshop on digital library

THE Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), here in collaboration with the UNESCO and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) is organising a 10-day workshop on digital library development for participants drawn from India's neighbouring countries beginning on January 28.

About 10 representatives from countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and an equal number from India would be taking part. The IT Advisor of Andhra Pradesh Government, Dr T.H. Chowdhary will inaugurate while the CCMB Director, Dr Lalji Singh will preside.

The DSIR has been involved in facilitating scientific and technological information (STI). Apart from imparting skills, the workshop would focus on developing courseware for digital library development and also work towards future collaborations between participating countries, according to a CCMB release.

The workshop would address problems and issues in digital libraries and techniques in electronic publishing, content creation, improving infrastructure, connectivity and protecting intellectual property rights.
