KOCHI: The District Kudumbasree Mission has proposed to create multi purpose job clubs in different parts of the district. The scheme, which will be financed by the SC/ST department, is primarily aimed at tapping the potential of unemployed SC/ST youths.

Those who become members will be given training to undertake repair and maintenance of electrical works and electronic gadgets in households and business establishments. Club members will also help carry out service activities for household such as remittances of electricity, water and telephone bills.

At the initial stages, the department is planning to introduce job clubs in and around 8 municipalities and the Kochi Corporation. As many as two clubs in the city, which are in advanced stage of formation, will start their operations immediately.
