BHPV taskforce to meet

VISAKHAPATNAM: The special taskforce constituted for the rejuvenation of the Bharat Heavy Plates and Vessels (BHPV) unit here is going to hold its first meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.

Mr Satish C. Gupta, the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Yantra Nigam Ltd, Mr S. Shailendra N. Roy, Managing Director of BHPV, Mr K. Yerran Naidu, the floor leader of the Telugu Desam Party in the Lok Sabha, and Mr G. Srinivasa Rao, a Member of Parliament, are the members of the taskforce.

The taskforce has to explore business opportunities for utilising the idle capacity of the unit in the areas of machining, fabrication and site erection and ways and means to put the unit back on rails. The accumulated losses of the unit have mounted to Rs 180 crore and there are apprehensions that it may be referred to the BIFR.
