Industry & Economy - Exim Policy

Cochin Chamber hails Exim policy

Our Bureau

KOCHI: The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the initiatives announced by the Union Commerce Minister in the mini Exim Policy saying that the announcement of the positive changes are sure to provide a greater impetus to the country's already buoyant export performance.

There has been a conscious effort to simplify, streamline and rationalise the Exim policy, which is a welcome move, the Chamber President, Mr N.R. Pai, said in a statement issued here. Furthermore, the decision to introduce the Gold Card scheme, the launching of the National Export Insurance Fund, the extension of deemed export benefits for zero duty items and especially the incentives for the services/IT sectors are laudable, he said.

These measures, while definitely facilitating the country's improved competitiveness in global markets will also ensure reduction in transaction costs and bring in greater transparency, he said.
